Kudos To The Great Work Done By Chemistry Tutor From Tutor Pace

Kudos To The Great Work Done By Chemistry Tutor From Tutor Pace 0SHARESShare I wish to introduce myself as Gabriel, a ninth grader in a public school in Texas. Well, my experience with Tutor Pace is amazing and I want to share it with you. I am not that good at science- having exam fear, pulling all nighters before science tests- the hell of it.     And, I shiver at chemistry which haunts me even in sleeps…. Those equations, formulas, symbols…I shrivel before the day of chemistry test. From the day 1 of my chemistry classes this year, I was like a fish out of water and trembled in labs. Poor grades in the first test, poorer grades in second test… it went on like that One of my friends had the same experience; she searched the web and picked up a list of online tutoring services. She chose Tutor Pace for their rates and services and agreed for a free trial session with them. Chemistry was at her finger tips from then and now she is all for Tutor Pace. She recommended the same for me too. I did not believe at first that tutors could be so friendly, explanatory and easy to go in their attitudes. I started with a free trial session in Chemistry for 30 minutes from Tutor Pace. It was about gas laws and the tutor was mind blowing…easy explanations and gripping in presentation. I did not feel the fleeting of time. So engaging was he. (Now he is my favorite tutor). Ok, I continued with a month’s package for Chemistry tutoring and am happy with my tutor’s explanations, problem solving and instant solutions and feedback. Atoms, Boyle’s law- you could ask me anything in Chemistry now. Wonderful experience and safe environment. I really feel blessed to be part of Tutor Pace experience. I’ll continue to be so. And if you want to draw a tattoo yourself, the first thing to do is determine a style. Are you into tribal patterns, or more old-school designs? First let’s take a look at the main tattoo styles to see what might suit you.The traditional tattooThe tribal tattooThis type is very well known in the tattoo world, one which is based on large black shapes and curved lines which these days has, unfortunately, lost its depth of meaning. Or iginally, the tribes who practices tattooing â€" whether in Polynesia or Africa â€" aimed to signify a social rank, the belonging to a certain group. These highly codified tattoos have a strong symbolism still today and are still very popular. The Asian tattooUsually using Chinese or Japanese lettering, this style is strongly inspired by Asian art. The Yakuza, in particular, opted for this style of tattoo. Among the most used symbols, we often find the dragon, the samurai, the geisha, and the lotus. The Celtic tattooComposed of Celtic symbols and lettering, this style of tattoo is easily recognisable as a kind of tribal art, with the Celtic cross as the main motif.Realistic tattoos  The realistic tattoo aims to faithfully reproduce a particular image. These really can be works of art, and require perfect mastery of the art of tattooing in order to achieve perfect results.Realistic tattoos can represent many different things - they can be drawings of a face, a still life, a landscape â €" and it can be in black and white or in colour. The end result should be a perfect copy of the original object, as if you’re looking at a photo. This type of tattoo is not for amateurs â€" it takes real skill to produce a piece of art like this, with particular attention being paid to the fine details so they are visible on skin.Tattooing goes way back to all different cultures - where does your inspiration come from? Photo credit: Olin Gilbert on Visual HuntOld school tattoosOften retro in style, with a rock and roll touch, the old school tattoo comes from 1930s America, inspired by the local culture of the era. From Native Americans to pin-ups to bikers, this style was popularised by sailors who would take what was most dear to them symbolically through their tattoos. For a long time, the old school tattoo was considered to be worn by delinquents and had a bad image. Today, it’s returned to popular culture and has changed its reputation.Graphic tattoosGraphic tattoos are abstr act and artistic, and really give free rein to the imagination. It’s still a fairly recent style which has its origins in art, with each tattoo artist displaying their own unique style. Whether it’s geometric, symbolic, motifs, objects, animals, the inspiration for graphic tattoos are varied and there is a total freedom of expression. If you like the work or style of a particular tattoo artist, then why not trust him to design you your own tattoo? He will create a unique work of art for your own skin. You could take inspiration from manga and anime drawings too.Biomechanical tattoosThis is still a very recent trend. The biomechanical tattoo, as the name suggests, combines mechanical and biological elements. With a focus on the futuristic, this style finds inspiration in science fiction. You could, for example, get a tattoo sleeve of a bionic arm drawn with a 3D effect!Dot work tattoosDot work is similar to the idea of pointillism painting. The technique consists of tattooing in lo ts of tiny dots. This gives the effect of different materials and textures, bringing a touch of originality and realism to the tattoo.Calligraphic/writing tattoos  Getting an inspirational phrase or quote is very common these days. What makes the difference between a good and a bad tattoo â€" apart from spelling mistakes, of course! â€" is the calligraphy used. Before getting a calligraphic tattoo, it’s essential to pick your favourite writing style. And among all these new trends, there is also a new interest in white ink tattoos and 3D tattoos that create an optical illusion on the skin just like a real 3D drawing. So really explore all your options before making your final choice!Take good drawing classes here.Be careful with the style you choose and do some research before hand! Photo on VisualHunt.comHow Can I Find a Tattoo Subject Before Designing It?Before starting the first sketches of a tattoo, you need to determine which style you want to use and equally what your subject will be.This is obviously a very important step, because once it’s tattooed on your skin, it will remain there…unless you opt for some painful and expensive laser removal sessions. So make sure it’s something you won’t regret!Tattoos are symbolic: beyond the aesthetic aspect, a tattoo is personal and expresses something important to the person who wears it.  There are so many possibilities - whether it’s a character, an abstract pattern, or any symbol, it’s important to find the right inspiration to create the perfect personalised tattoo.Use your own personal experience to find an important subjectExplore different artistic references, look in art books, at street art, film, musicHave a look at the work of your favourite tattoo artistsTattoos are a graphic representation, just like designing a logo. For successful and satisfying results, it shouldn’t just be a message, but it should also be perfectly designed and executed. There are two possibilities to consider:Desig ning your own tattoo: for this you will need to have a good grasp of the basics of drawing so that you can design an aesthetically pleasing tattoo which can then be reproduced on your skin.Go to a tattoo artist: you can tell the artist your ideas and wishes for your tattoo, and they will propose an original and creative design to you. A good tattoo artist is above all an experimental artist. To avoid any disappointment, it’s best to follow their advice.5 Constraints of Designing a TattooHow do you get started with designing a tattoo? Find an original idea! Photo credit: °] ° on VisualhuntAll tattoo artists will tell you: just because a drawing is beautiful, doesn’t mean it will make a beautiful tattoo. The reasons are simple â€" a tattoo must be designed taking into account certain constraints. The size of the tattooIt seems obvious. If you have a face tattooed in a 3cm square area, you will not be able to add much detail whatsoever. Remember to adjust the size of your tattoo ac cording to the desired design. The more realistic and detailed you want your tattoo to be, the bigger it will need to be to accommodate that.Placement Where will your tattoo be placed on your body? This is another essential question to ask before creating your tattoo. Remember that in this case, your skin is the paper or canvas, and a tattoo needs to be designed according to which part of the body it will go, be it arms, back, torso, neck…The coloursHow many colours are there in your tattoo design? Make sure you take into account the fact that not everything can be transferred from a drawing to a tattoo. It’s not enough to just be a good artist when it comes to drawing an original tattoo, you need to understand the method too!Consistency Different tattoos on a person should all harmonise together. But how can you make sure all your tattoos work well together? This is also an issue that shouldn’t be neglected. If each tattoo is unique, they must all nonetheless find a place nex t to each other.Who will execute the tattoo? This is the question that makes all the difference. If you have a very precise idea in mind that you have designed yourself, you need to find a tattoo artist you will respect it as faithfully as possible.Everyone has their own style and technique. If your design has too many colours or effects, it’s possible that slight adaptations or modifications will be necessary to make the tattoo work.Choose the Right Tattoo Artist to Get the Tattoo of Your Dreams!A tattoo artist is an expert, so they'll be able to advise you on your own body art. Photo credit: henboffman on Visual huntWhether or not you know how to draw, the key to a successful tattoo lies with the person who will eventually create it. And finding the right person for job isn’t always an easy task.Take the time to do your research, have a look at their achievements, style and reviews before you get started. You can also opt for some drawing classes to help you create your own desi gn.Most tattoo artists will be able to show you their tattoo catalogue, which will include original and unique tattoo designs that they’ve previously done. Feel free to browse your local tattoo studios to see if you’ll find the right tattoo template.Don’t forget that there’s no shame in using a tattoo that you find in a catalogue or online! Whether it is a character drawn in comic-book style or a simple band, it just might be the case that your perfect future tattoo has already been imagined by a tattoo artist. If this isn’t the case, most artists will offer to draw a custom tattoo for you to help you in the decision process. Simply explain your approach and what you want the tattoo to symbolise or represent for you, and the tattoo artist will be able to offer you an original tattoo design based on your ideas. And never forget that tattoos are permanent! If you’re having doubts, why not test out a semi-permanent or temporary tattoo to get more concrete idea before going fo r the real thing?

What is it Like to Attend Harvard University

What is it Like to Attend Harvard University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Jonathan is a 2011 graduate of Harvard University where he studied Philosophy. He currently tutors in Los Angeles, specializing in a multitude of subjects including Statistics tutoring, SAT prep tutoring, ACT prep tutoring, and Chemistry tutoring. See what he had to say about his time at Harvard: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Jonathan: Cambridge is very easy to navigate.Campus is pretty much totally flat and everyone walks or bikes to class. There is also a subway stop right in the middle of Harvard Square and Boston is an easy 20-minute commute away. I think one of the best features of Harvard is its location right outside of the college-mecca of Boston. Theres always something fun and interesting going on. VT: How helpful are the academic advisors? Jonathan:The academic advisors at Harvard are top-notch.Every student has multiple advisors (professors, RAs, upperclassmen) assigned to them and they are all quite friendly and helpful. My freshman year academic adviser is the reason that I ended up graduating as a Philosophy major! VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Jonathan: Dorm life at Harvard is great.99% of students live on campus because the housing is so awesome. All upperclassman students are assigned to 1 of 12 upperclassman houses. Each house has its own dining hall, library, class rooms, gyms, etc. My house even had 4 squash courts in the basement.People play intramural sports for their houses (it gets pretty competitive) and each house has its own graduation ceremony for its seniors where you get your actual diploma. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Jonathan: The most popular majors at Harvard are easily Economics and Government. However, there are a plethora of other majors available and if theres something you want to study that Harvard doesnt officially offer, you can petition the school and literally create your own area of study. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Jonathan: As a freshman, it was very easy to meet people and make friends. The Harvard community is phenomenal and nearly everyone I met was extremely friendly and interesting. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Jonathan: OCS (Office of Career Services) is very helpful. While I knew that I was going to graduate school (and thus didnt spend much time there), all of my friends who were trying to get a job right of college told me that OCS was a great resource. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Jonathan: The Harvard library system is second to none. The school actually has 12 libraries on campus (plus 12 more, one in each of the upperclassman houses, for a grand total of 24).There is literally no book that Harvard does not have in the reserves or cannot get you.The student body is extremely studious and come finals period, its not surprising to see kids literally camped out (tents, sleeping bags, and all) in one of the libraries. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Jonathan: Cambridge is a great little city that has been built up around Harvards campus. It has a plethora of restaurants and shops, a movie theater, etc.Cambridge also happens to be situated right along the Charles river, which is beautiful in the spring and fall. And once you get bored of Cambridge, historic Boston (which speaks for itself) is just a short subway ride away. With 50+ colleges and universities in the greater Boston area, there are college students everywhere. VT: How big or small is the student body and how does that affect your experience? Jonathan: The undergraduate student body at Harvard is right around 7,000 (~1,700 per class).I think its a perfect size for a college as its large enough to allow you to constantly meet new people but small enough where you dont just feel like a number. I never had a problem getting into the classes that I wanted or getting in to see a professor. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Jonathan: One of my favorite classes that I took at Harvard was a senior seminar entitled The Science of Happiness. It was taught by a Harvard Medical School professor and only 20 students were permitted to enroll. We read about and discussed fascinating research into the psychological and neurobiological underpinnings of happiness from chemical stimulation to friendship to love. It was extremely interesting and a class that I will never forget. Check out Jonathans tutoring profile. The views expressed in this article do not necessarily represent the views of Varsity Tutors.

Five Colleges with Enhanced ADHD Services

Five Colleges with Enhanced ADHD Services Heading off to college represents an exciting time for students with ADHD. Most are excited for the opportunity to break away from the structure of high school and the routines of family life, and forge their own path. Its also an anxiety-provoking time, since the success of students with ADHD up to this point has often been dependent on the structure that their school and family have provided. All students with ADHD need some level of additional support during college to reach their full potential. Some need fairly minimal support, like access to a psychiatrist on campus who can prescribe ADHD medication, a handful of academic accommodations, or a reduced course-load. Others need more substantial support, like access to ADHD-specific counseling or coaching programs, individualized instruction, or executive functioning classes. College campuses vary greatly in the services offered and the costs associated with these services. Working together with your teen to figure out which colleg e is the right fit for their unique needs is a complex and lengthy process. To get you started, heres a list of five colleges that offer enhanced support services for students with ADHD. University of Arizona The University of Arizona offers a highly acclaimed program just for students with ADHD and other learning differences through its Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (SALT) Center. The SALT Center offers individual weekly meetings with a Strategic Learning Specialist who assists with educational planning, goal-setting, time management, organization, and learning strategies. Also provided are access to assistive technology, psychological counseling, tutoring, and the option to receive additional life coaching or ADHD-specific coaching. The SALT Center charges semester-based fees ranging from $1,200 $2,800. Landmark College Landmark College (Vermont) is a unique college exclusively for students with ADHD or learning disorders and offers one of the most comprehensive specialized learning programs available. At Landmark College, support services are integrated into the curriculum, and all students have access to them. These supports include small class sizes (with a student to faculty ratio of 6:1), individualized instruction designed to make classes engaging for students with ADHD, executive function coaching, tutoring, and social supports that facilitate the process of establishing a new friend group and living on a college campus. University of Maryland College Park The University of Maryland College Park, like most colleges, offers typical academic accommodations for students with ADHD. Through the Psychology Department on campus, students can also access the SUCCEEDS program, which is designed specifically for students with ADHD. Through the SUCCEEDS program, students receive a comprehensive assessment that identifies their areas of strengths and weaknesses, participate in weekly group meetings led by graduate students in the psychology department, and are assigned a personal coach to help them with time management, social challenges, and organizational challenges. There is a separate fee for the SUCCEEDS program ranging from $1,500 $2,000 per semester. Appalachian State University Appalachian State University (North Carolina) offers a unique program for students with executive functioning challenges (including students with ADHD) through their As-U-R program. Like many of the programs on this list, they offer specialized tutoring and mentoring, specific training to address executive functioning challenges (like time management and organization), transition and adjustment assistance for incoming students, and access to assistive technology. Where this university program really raises the bar is with their commitment to accountability all students participating in the As-U-R program are required to spend study hours in the Study Center each week, where they have a quiet study space and direct access to assistance from support staff. What could be better for blocking out distractions and helping students with ADHD follow-through on meeting their academic goals? Students must apply to be admitted into the As-U-R program; however, the re are no additional fees for AS-U-R services. Curry College For students looking for a smaller college campus experience, Curry College (Massachusetts) can be an excellent option. Curry College offers the Program for Advancement of Learning (PAL), which provides credit-bearing courses to teach students with ADHD the learning strategies they need to succeed in college lecture courses. Throughout the school year, students meet with a PAL faculty member 2-3 times per week in a combination of individual and group settings to develop a better understanding of their learning styles and develop key executive functioning skills. PALs fees range from $1,800 - $3,500 per semester. This list represents just a few of the many colleges that offer enhanced services for students with ADHD. For additional resources, check out the 20 Best Value Colleges for Students with ADHD or lists focused on colleges with services for students with learning differences, like College Choices 50 Best Disability Friendly Colleges and Universities. For teens with ADHD college acceptance represents a major milestone, and one that they worked very hard to achieve. Once the admissions offer has been accepted and the celebration has died down, its time to start thinking about how your teens needs will be met once college life begins. College students with ADHD need more support than their peers without ADHD in many areas. The start of college is an exciting time for incoming students, and most are eager to break away from the structure of their high school existence and start something new. Its a time when independence is celebrated, and teens finally have a chance to really stand on their own two feet. For incoming students with ADHD, this exciting time can also be anxiety provoking, and with good reason. Teens with ADHD are more dependent than most on the structure provided by their high school and their families and breaking away from that structure while keeping ADHD symptoms in check can be a real challenge. Difficulties with organization, time management, prioritizing academic assignments and attending classes, regulating sleep schedules, etc. all become exacerbated when school structure and parental oversight are pulled away. In addition, symptoms of ADHD make attending and learning from longer lectures and dense reading assignments without individual support more challenging. Academic accommodations in college are one tool that may help students with ADHD manage some of the ADHD-related impairments that come up during classes for students with ADHD. Its important for students and their parents to understand in advance what types of accommodations are available to students with ADHD, how to qualify for these accommodations, and who to meet with to ensure that these accommodations are put into place. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions as they relate to college academic accommodations and ADHD. ABOUT DR. Reading Programs for Struggling Readers

Reading Programs for Struggling Readers Struggling Readers Can Suffer In all Academic Subjects but Reading Programs Can Help Reading isn't just about opening a book and being able to read the story. It is a complex process that requires students to interpret new concepts, make connections between previously read texts, evaluate their own understanding, make inferences and predictions, anddraw conclusions based on previous knowledge. When a child is struggling with reading skills it affects much more than the ability to read and comprehend a book. Reading permeates every facet of life, impacts allsubject areas, and can have a major effect on a student's academic confidence. Multiple academic disciplines are affected when a student is struggling in reading. Areas of concern may include: Math Students are expected to readand interpret mathematical word problems, follow complex directions, andapply critical thinking skills to mathematical scenarios. Before beginning any mathematical calculationa struggling reader will likely facedifficulty comprehendingthe problem and determining where tobegin. ScienceScience courses, such aschemistry, biology, physics, and earth science, require students to readand understand textbooks, follow laboratory directions, and interpretscientific reports. Struggling readers face additional difficulties withcomplex vocabulary and academic terms that impact overall understanding. History and social studiesSolid reading skills areessential for success in social studies and historycourses. Students must be able to read and understand textbooks, academic articles, biographies, and primary documents. Many of these texts includespecialized vocabulary, require students to identify historicalconnections, and are best understood within the context of previous readingand learning. Foreign languages Learning a foreign languagerequires a student to understand and be able to applyphonological(blendingsounds together and segmenting sounds from words) and orthographic (the sound-symbol connection) processes. Struggling readersmay face difficulties with these basic processes which impact both theirreading ability and the comprehension required to learn a foreignlanguage. Career preparation Your child's success in school will have a direct impact on career preparation and the ability to succeed in future work.
